Frequently asked questions

QHSE, CSR and ESG:
the questions people ask.

What is the difference between QHSE, CSR and ESG?

QHSE brings together quality, health, safety and environment: it is about controlling activities and risks. CSR (corporate social responsibility) is the approach through which a company takes its social and environmental impacts into account. ESG (environmental, social, governance) refers to the criteria used to assess these practices, notably by investors and customers.

What is the link between ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and CSR?

ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) are certifiable management systems that structure part of a CSR approach. ISO 26000, for its part, gives guidance on social responsibility and is not certifiable.

Where should a CSR approach start on an industrial site?

With a review: regulatory obligations, available environmental and social data, expectations of customers and employees. Management systems already in place (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001) provide a solid base for setting priorities and indicators.

Is the carbon footprint part of the support?

Yes: the greenhouse gas emissions assessment is among the skills available, together with EU ETS follow-up and environmental and energy reviews.

How are results measured?

With simple, reliable indicators collected as close to the field as possible: accident rates, consumption, waste, emissions, training, compliance. They feed management reviews and the company’s reporting.

Does IFECARM GROUP work on these topics?

Yes: the firm assesses environmental and energy performance and supports organisations in Africa and in Europe; its executive committee includes the heads of CSR and energy.
